- חָמַץ(b. h.; cmp. חמס) (to be hot) to do violence, to wrong. Snh.35a (ref. to Is. 1:17) אשרו חָמוּץ ולא חֹומֵץ right the oppressed, but not the oppressor (listen to the complainant first); Yoma 39b.
